Well, as I said, manufacturers are cutting more and more corners as DVD continues to gain popularity and now promises to become widely used for recording as well as playback. All the remotes I've seen for VCRS recently have more small buttons than I prefer on them. The reason I recommended Panasonic for a VCR purchase is because I have seen repeatedly that their performance and durability beats the pants off of Sony and JVC products of similar price range.

Well, I thank you for the time you took to read, rate and comment. I'm not extremely versed on all of the technical issues associated with VCRs but I know what to look for. Again thanks.
