| fun1wpb's Full Review: Embassy Suites Washington, D.C. |
I travel to the Washington area on business several times per month. The Embassy Suites has become my first choice as a "home away from home" and I book there whenever I can.
Although the hotel is a bit "older" in style/furnishings/decor, the rooms are reliably clean and spacious, and the staff are friendly. The breakfast in the morning is a definite plus, and the location near Dupont Circle is excellent.
If staying for a few nights try the Mei Wah Chinese Restaurant around the corner on M Street--they have carry-out and I've enjoyed many evenings in my Suite, eating Chinese food while watching TV.
If you plan to use the wireless high-speed internet access in the hotel, ask them to give you a room that is not on the end/corners. These rooms don't get reception very well, unless you're practically standing near the door. The rooms in the center pick up the signal very well and you won't have any problems in most of these. For some reason, they give businessmen "upgraded" rooms in the corners (they are larger rooms) but these have the worst internet signal--so it isn't worth it. The regular suites are plenty large enough for 1-2 people and they've got strong internet signals.
