Pros: Nice Picture, Easy Controls, Great price
Cons: I could "pick" at minor things but why? Watch out for the "progressive thinking" :-)
The Bottom Line: I would go this route if your thinking of a big screen. will end up costing about the same with a DVD player, reciever and speakers but well worth it.

To Start, I have never owned anything like this before.
I have had this unit for about 3 months now and have almost 150 hours on it already!
I got it mostly for Football this season!! (Go Ravens!)
But a "Movie night" has now developed and the wife will occasionally watch a "Trading Spaces" episode from time to time.
I think the TV signal picture is as good as my 32" RCA tabletop TV at about 9' viewing distance. Difference is, it's 7 foot wide and 5 feet tall!!! Awesome! DVD movies even look better!
A brightly lit room will wash out the picture some but close the curtains and WoW!! sit back and relax! Doesn't have to be real dark. We regularly watch Nascar races during the day and it's fine.
Well, Much to my wifes displeasure, I went the whole 9 yards and built a theater room. The "project" started out as simple curiosity in a "Big Screen" which continued when I visited a furniture store one day (just bought a house and was looking for a bed) In the back, I heard "Gladiator" playing but it sounded BIG! I had to investigate. (I was bored looking at beds anyways!)They had a mini theater built in the back room to showcase some theater chairs! That then led to the thinking that, I had WAY TOO much space in my basement just going to waste! I went on EBay, found some cheap theater chairs from a theater that went out of business, bought a nice Yamaha reciever, coupled that with some old Pioneer floor speakers and 2 surrounds from a dead system I had laying around in the garage. I then HAD to spend a little for a Klipsch Center chanel speaker (Can't stand the music overshadowing the dialogue!)and now have a real movie theater experience! No kidding! This room rocks!!
I like movies like Die Hard, Lord of the Rings and Gladiator and the "rumble effect" I get from 770 watts of Pure power (Arr, Arr, Arr) but the wife limits those sessions :-)
Football Season is here and I am the envy of my friends and neighbors. Problem is, I can't fit them all into my 12' X 16' theater room at once!
Controls are straight forward and basic. anything more would be a waste in my hands anyways :-)
Picture is great.
Can hear the fan sitting directly under it but movies drown that out easily.
Does get a little warm so keep it well ventilated.
Replacement lamps are among the cheapest ($250-400)
Ratings vary from 2000hrs to 3000hrs and read where one guy had almost 4000 before replacing lamp! (can check lamp hrs in on-screen menu)
I have mine flipped upside down to accomodate my large screen and it works flawlessly!
I made my own cieling mount from 3 - 1' pieces of allthread form Home Depot(saved $300 there!)
If you're interested in a BIG SCREEN, this is where you start!
