Pros: Mazda bullet-proof reliability, good gas mileage for a vehicle this size.
Cons: Seat comfort, lousy ventilation controls
The Bottom Line: Strongly recommend if you can get comfortable in the driver's seat.

| jrr4shs's Full Review: 2004 Mazda Tribute |
We've had our 04 ES for just over a year and put on 18,000 miles. Good mileage, great in the rain and snow, without a single mechanical problem. I would definitely buy another one, especially when looking at the dollar value!
My complaints are all on the interior. The seats even with power adjustment can be difficult to get comfortable in, and I Hate the idiotic ventilation system that is either on or closed, with odd choices. Desperately needs a telescoping steering wheel. So, if you can get comfortable in the driving position, I recommend this vehicle without the slightest reservation.
There are a ton of great little surprises that have pleased me with this vehicle. The Tribute is miles ahead of anything else under 30k that I drove. there is no "tinny japanese feel" like the Rav or Crv, but it isn't a lumbering mush like the Grand Cherokee. The Escape is of course a sister vehicle, but the Mazda has a better warrantee (4yr/50k bumper to bumper).
Top it off with a generous and well balanced V6, smart handling (the best SUV I have ever driven for under 30k-and better than most cars), terrific room especially for back-seat passengers, and you have a real winner.
I have seen the 05 and they do not yet offer a telescoping wheel nor have they improved ventilation controls-if they do by 2006 I will likely buy another Tribute when it is time to replace the other car.
