No, it isn't.
I moved from Michigan to Illinois. I had signed a 2 year contract in early 2000. In that contract I had signed for installment charges for the phone I got.
I am still a Verizon customer, as per my contract, but I am being charged for "cancelling" my service.
Sound strange? The Verizon offices in Illinois know that I am still a customer of Verizon and that I have a 2 year contract. But the Verizon offices in Michigan claim that I don't have Verizon service, and that I cancelled my service and owe the amount of $133 for the installments on the phone.
It took me 3 months to make the Michigan offices understand that I am still a Verizon customer. So what's their new excuse for me to pay $133? I left a region. My contract says that I pay the amount of $2 and some change every month for 2 years to pay off this phone, as long as I don't stop service with Verizon.
Lo and behold, the almighty Verizon says that my contract doesn't mean anything concerning my "equipment" even though it is clearly listed. A customer service rep even resorted to telling me how long he's "been in the business", and how I am wrong because that is simply how Verizon does business.
This is the only time I thought a contract, that I would be "stuck" to, would help me from being charged an obscene amount. Clearly Verizon doesn't believe in this and doesn't stand behind their customers needs.
