Adambier (Batch 46), Hair of the Dog, Portland
by andaryl | May 19 '01
Predominantly malty offset by tart bitterness and light smokiness. Flavorful, complex and full of character. A unique style and one of the best beers available.

OK - I will! Mind you, as I live in England, I mostly get English beer - which is, by and large (for real ale anyway) very good (the lager is, by and large, gross).

You really do write excellent beer reviews!

Cheers,
Kate

You should speak to bruguru for any questions about drinking on the east coast. I know he found this one.

...we could get it here in the UK. It sounds heavenly.

I lived in Portland for a couple of years in the mid/late '80s. Then, the local college brew was Blitz - the cheapy from Henry Weinharts. It had only one redeeming value - it got you drunk (if you drank enough) and then you didn't care how it tasted. Things have moved on!

Great review as always - do you know if this beer is available on the East Coast (I'll be visiting my family in August)?

Cheers,
Kate

As you can tell I was amazed by this brew, I actually put it as the best beer reviewed so far on my member page. I have to congratulate this brewery for their daring originality. I'll pick up anything else I see from HOD.

Andrew,

Hair of the Dog ADAM is an excellent beer... on of my favorite, and at 10% ABV it is loaded.

Hair of the Dog also produces RUTH (under 5% ABV), which is available now at Trader Joe's.

Great review,

4-1-1 / Tom
