Pros: Engine; suspension; interior comfort/luxury.
Cons: Less-than-EPA fuel economy; road noise; poor expectation of long-term reliability.
The Bottom Line: If you want a solid, comfortable, stylish, and luxurious car for a good price, the Concorde is it.

| fummer2001's Full Review: 2004 Chrysler Concorde |
I purchased my 2004 Limited with Premium Discount Group one month ago. I like the car overall, but there are a few things I'd change. More sound isulation is needed in the wheel wells; one hears a great deal of road noise on anything but smooth surfaces. The rear shelf-mounted speaker in the 9-speaker Infinity sound system produces a very muffled sound, in contrast to the relatively clean-sounding door-mounted speakers; I plan to look into replacing the speaker very soon. Around-town fuel economy with the high-output 3.5-liter is not very impressive; I get less than 17 mpg in mostly boulevard driving; I suspect that the Chrysler-built slushbox is to blame. Yes, that's not bad for a full-size car, but the V8-powered Sedan Deville does better. Speaking of engines, it's a good performer and, frankly, should be more reliable than the low-spec 2.7-liter. The throttle/torque-converter setup doesn't provide very quick response, but the engine really snarls once the powertrain gets the message that you're in a hurry. Passing power is not a problem.
Otherwise, the car was an excellent value as a one-year-old used model (mine was a program vehicle, which, no matter how hard the dealer tried to persuade me, was not a NEW vehicle). The seats are comfortable for larger adults, rear leg room is excellent, and the ride is a nice balance between sport and luxury. In my opinion, the ride tends toward the sport-sedan side; previously, I drove a well-equipped 1994 Volvo 850, which had a European-spec suspension (in contrast to later models) and rode very firmly (it had an unacceptably shaking, jittery ride, in reality, especially given the non-rigid chassis). The Limited model is the only one with speed-sensitive steering, too. Given the significant bump in standard equipment from both lower models to the Limited, I can only recommend the Limited. Traction control, speed-sensitive steering, and a high-powered engine are definitely worth the extra money. The Premium Discount Group also offers serious luxury touches, including real wood.
Assuming that the car remains reliable for the next 2-3 years, I expect to be very happy.
