| Susie-34668's Full Review: T-Mobile Phone Service in Tampa/St. Petersburg |
I started with this company when they were Voice Stream. They had exactly what I needed. 60 anytime minutes and 500 weekend minutes, nationwide, with no roaming charges, for $19.99. I had to sign up for a two year contract with them, but that was no big deal. This had to be at least 5 years ago.
I got notified in the mail that T-Mobile had taken over Voice Stream, but everything would remain the same, including my contract with them. When my contract was up I headed up to our local Mall to sign up again. Another free phone and accessories, and this time just a one year contract. I did have to pay an activation fee with each new phone.
Every month when my bill came from T-Mobile, I would notice new areas added to the calling area. There had been problems with Voice Stream with the quality of the call, and sometimes even getting failed calls.
When I visited New Hampshire and Maine, I used my T-Mobile plan and the calls were included in my $19.99 + taxes monthly bill. Again when in Georgia and South Carolina, I had crystal clear quality of calls, and they were included in my plan.
Last year I had the Motorola C332 phone and had no problems at all with it. When my year was up, Motorola sent me a new phone the C350, and asked me to send back the old one. They said that they had loads of complaints on that model. Well, I had to take the SIM card out of the back of the phone and put it in the new one. No I am not a dizzy blond, but I just couldn't get it to work. I headed up to the Mall, to the T-Mobile store, and asked one of the employees to help. They were really helpful. Put in the SIM card, so I could keep my old phone number, and also helped me with the phone. It was a totally new one, and none of them had seen it. This time there was no activation charge, because of the new regulations of keeping your phone number.
I have never been asked to take a more costly plan. My billing comes every month, but I opted to have it charged to my credit card. I therefore do not pay it, and just file it away. It is always correct. I just noticed that as a valued customer of T-Mobile I now get another 15 anytime minutes. It is a loyalty bonus. I also have 50 text messages, a month, if I wish to use them. I don't know anyone else on T-Mobile, so this is pretty useless to me.
With my Motorola C350 phone I always have a full strength signal, whether I am upstairs, downstairs, or in the ladies chamber. I call England on it, and often the clarity is better than on my land line.
I have never had to phone customer service over the past five years or more. When I want to check on how many minutes I have used, I do it via my phone. Just dial *646*. I do believe that if I go over the amount of minutes the cost is extremely high. I have only given out my number to family for emergencies, and work. At the weekends I love to phone friends and a fellow Epinionator. Bet you all can guess who that is.
I really can't comment on any other companies in the business because I have been so satisfied with T-Mobile. I do know that when I was browsing in the mall, other $19.99 plans didn't have either the nationwide, or free roaming. If you use your phone a lot, then possibly another plan, or phone company may offer a better service for you. The majority of my calls are to England and I make them from my land line. It is only 6.9 cents a minute. I do have a company that will allow me to enter a 1-800 number, and then dial the England number on my cell phone. It will take minutes from my plan, but not charge the England rate. Total call then charge me 6.9 cents a minute on their bill. I have used this benefit on my phone during the weekends, when I don't have to watch
The customer service number for my Tampa/St. Petersburg area is 1-800-937-8997. Not sure if it is the same for the rest of the country.
Overall I am completely satisfied with T-Mobile.
Thanks for dropping by.
Susie.
