10 of my favorite moviesMay 21 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line Bottom line these are the movies I have most enjoyed watching. I hope you enjoy watching them also. I don't know if these are the ten best movies but these are ten movies that I really like and would highly recommend seeing. 10) Princess Bride (PG) (Comedy, adventure) This is a timeless classic, I love the movie no matter how many times I watch it. It is a great flick for anyone it's got comedy, action, adventure and romance. Billy Crystal pops in for a few punch lines, and Andre the Giant throws a few punches. This movie is just great. Get it! (9) Forrest Gump (PG-13) (everything) I'm sure most of you have seen Forrest Gump, if you haven't then I'll tell you what your missing, Tom Hanks best performance ever, one of the best movies ever, a not so smart man becoming successful in all aspects of life by staying true to himself and his momma. This movie is like a box of chocolates you never know what your gonna get. (8) Billy Madison (PG-13) (Comedy) This is definitely Adam Sandler's funniest movie yet. And best of all he co-stars a beautiful women. Billy is in his 20's and has to redo his entire education from K-12 grade to inherit his father's business. I love the scene where he is playing dodge ball with the first graders, and he practically knocks them all out. If you like stupid funny films this is a must see. (7) Robin Hood Prince of Thieves (PG-13) (Action Adventure) This is in my opinion Kevin Costner's last good movie. RHPOT captures the magicalness and legendary tale of Robin Hood. Every one knows the Story, Robin Hood is a prince who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. There have been a handful of Robin Hood movies but this one really comes to life. Not to be confused with Robin Hood men in tights. (6) Scarface (R) (Drug dealing drama) Al Pacino stars in this classic film about Tony Montana a coke dealing gangster making it big in Miami. This movie is as raw as it gets. Michelle Phfeiffer also plays a convincing role as Tony's wife. Basically this movie shows you the ups and downs of being a drug king pin. This drug-film formula has been imitated but never duplicated. (5) Better Off Dead (PG-13) (Comedy) A great comedy starring John Cusack. He stars as a regular high school kid who gets dumped by his girlfriend for the captain of the ski team. He challenges the captain to a race down K2(The steepest mountain in town) in a desperate attempt to win back his girl's heart. While preparing for the race he falls in love with a French foreign exchange student. This movie is hilarious and in my opinion the best 80's High School flick. If you liked Ferris Buehler, you'll love better off dead. (4) Il Postino (NR) (Italian-foreign-comedy-romance) This is a beautiful film which takes place in the early 1900's on the coast of Italy. This film follows the life of a young bicycle post man. He befriends a political poet from Chile who is finding refuge in Italy from opposers. He also falls in love with a gorgeous women, yet he doesn't know how to express his feelings. So he teams up with his poet friend and the rest is history. (3) Life is Beautiful (NR) (Italian-foreign-comedy-drama) Life is Beautiful is the nest foreign film I have ever seen. The first half of the film is a romantic comedy, about a man who tries desperately for a woman to fall in love with him. Actor Benito does a wonderful job with the comedy, he is light energetic and hilarious. The second half of the film follows Benito and his son in a Nazi concentration camp. Benito plays it off as a big game and hides the reality and seriousness of it, from his son. You just have to see this movie, you will not regret it. (2) Rocky (PG) (Drama) Sylvester Stallone's best film of all time. I just love this movie. It really doesn't get much better. If you haven't seen it, see it NOW! It's for your own good. (1) The number one spot is a tie between the action-drama Braveheart and the oddball humor of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Although extremely different, they are both extremely enjoyable. I guess it just depend on what mood I am in. |
