INTRO
Well, those that know me personally, found out last month I finished my first marathon in L.A. Who better to sponsor this annual event other than Sprint? They sponsored by allowing runner's to make free calls at the 19th mile and at the finish of the race.
I took my opportunity to make a free call on them after finishing the race. The call was very clear indeed almost as if person talking to me was inside the phone. There was no static or any background noise. A vast improvement from the Sprint service I experienced when I first connect with them nearly a year and a half ago.
I suspect they've done some upgrades to their towers and telecommunication electronics within the last 6 months.
PROS
Recent additions that sets Sprint miles in front of the competition...(My reasons to signing up)
No contracts! Pay as you go each month as long as you want service with no penalty for canceling service.
No credit or bad credit? They'll still provide you with service, however, you'll need to give them a small deposit (I believe it's $125.00)
No roaming charge as long as you're on the Sprint Network. I keep my phone set for "Sprint PCS only" so that my phone won't roam (to keep from having to pay roaming charges)
Refer a friend to Sprint PCS and you and your friend both get a $10 credit on your bills. I have yet to refer a friend but I'd love to refer you (email me) =)
The world wide web has brought us a wealth of info right at our fingertips. Well, now you can get access to your acct info, time usage and even pay your bill all online and securely. I like knowing how many minutes I have left for the month because it helps me budget toward my monthly plan. (Go to www.sprintpcs.com to login to your acct)
What plan did I initially get?
I signed up for the $29.99 plan which gave me 200 anytime minutes per month along and added "free long distance" as my free option.(within the continental U.S).
I later upgraded to "Sprint Advantage" which gave me 250 anytime minutes per month with free long distance and 1250 night and weekend bonus minutes each month. Awesome deal if you ask me.
CONS
Ok, now I must give you the cons...How could a review be good without the bad aspects...weigh the good and the bad and make a decision. =)
Although there's not "static" per se, you can get dropped on a call (low signal areas) And although, Sprint has improved big time, there are plenty of areas (in the valleys, underground parking structures, etc...) that will disconnect you, so count on it.
If you go over the allotted time for the month. (i.e. you plan gives you 200 minutes and you use 300 minutes) You'll get reamed on your bill. I believe it's 30 cents per minute they'll charge you for every single minute you go over on your plan. Please don't quote me on that, the prices change according to which plan you sign up for so check with Sprint on that.
You monthly minutes get used even when someone else calls you.
If you don't sign up for a plan that includes "free long distance", you could pay 15 cents a minute for long distance when using your PCS phone.
Although Sprint PCS is nationwide, there are many many areas of the U.S. not covered. MANY! So please check out their website before signing up for this service on my account!
Think that covers it! Let me know if I missed something. Your comments and ratings welcomed!
*with the Sprint Advantage agreement, there is a one year contract and a termination fee applies if you cancel early. ($150 termination fee)
