AMD 64 Laptop

Pros:Looks, configuration of buttons, overall performance, brightness of screen.
Cons:Battery life limited, slow hard drive. Memory has to be serviced for the full 2GB.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try an AMD 64 in a laptop. The video card allows for portable graphics editing.

I have this laptop for 1 month. The configuration was standard per the title with the base memory of 512. I did upgrade the hard drive to a smaller 60gb hard drive but 7200 rpm with 8mb cache. This is one weakness in the base configuration. The drive install was easy. The restore disks worked flawlessly.

First, the laptop is a beautiful red with slip cover and keyboard protector.(Very nice touch to keep the paint chip free and screen from imprinting the keyboard) Dvd burner, red mouse, and scroll button.

Second, the laptop is configured with XP Pro 64. Overall a base configuration. Wireless, blue tooth, fire wire, and 4 usb ports. I am really impressed with the feel of the keyboard and brightness of screen.

Third, the little things count. Great button control for turning the blue tooth or wireless on or off. Another nice button configuration to turn off touch pad. As mentioned before the scroll button is nicely configured.

Battery life is probably a big weakness for most 2 hours tops. Also memory is configured with two 256 memory modules, if you want up to 2 gig you will need to buy 2 512 modules and then ship the laptop for service to add the other GB of memory which needs to be installed in the keyboard.

Performance is GREAT even in windows. I have loaded Pinnacle 9 and done video editing and the ATI 9700 graphics card performs well. Also burning on the DVD performs well with Nero.

I paid just under 2 grand and feel the money is well spent.
