I’ve purchased a number of items on line before. I built my own PC and most of the components and software were purchased on line.
But I’ve never had a bad experience until I tried to purchase something from Compuvest.
This is what happened:
A) Tried to purchase an academic version of Visual Studio .net
B) I supplied all the relevant information requested including my credit card number. Everything went through fine.
C) They also requested an image of an active Student ID (with picture) from my school, which I supplied via e-mail, as they requested.
What was NOT said.
1) The version of Visual Studio .net I was asking for had to be purchased in a lot of 500 or more!
2) OR I had to be a “qualified” Educational Institution, or a staff or faculty member of a “qualified” Educational Institution.
3) OR I had to be an employee of a Public Library, and I had to have a purchase order from the Library to buy the software.
4) OR I had to be an employee of a museum, and I had to have a purchase order from the museum to buy the software.
5) If I didn’t supply a purchase order within 24 hours the order will be canceled.
None of this was anywhere on their web site!
When I purchased items from other online companies, they were able to take the order, process it and get the item in my hand in about 3 days. Compuvest took 3 day just to determine that the order couldn’t be shipped!
I now have given all my credit card and contact information to this company, and theirs no way to take the information back!
This was the first time I did business with Compuvest, and I’ll never do it again.
This company is looking for large contracts, there not interested in the individual purchase.
