Keep your feet fresh during the hot season

May 22 '01

The Bottom Line Here are two great products that I use to refresh my feet during the summer: Freeman's Bare foot and Body Shop's Foot spray. Read on to know everything about both!

Summer is at our doors, and so are long walks around the city, outdoor sports and many other activities that may leave our feet aching and… uh… not so fresh ;-[

After trying many feet products over the years to freshen mine, I’ve narrowed down my choice to only two that I now wouldn’t live without: Freeman’s BARE FOOT (when wearing shoes) and the Body Shop’s FOOT SPRAY (when wearing sandals).

== Freeman’s BARE FOOT ==

You have probably seen a Freeman product at the drugstore: it is a colorful series of body products that contains fruits and vegetables extracts. This one is no exception: there is peppermint oil and also balm mint extract in its composition, and you really feel the refreshing power of mint on your feet as soon as you apply it. It also has a pleasant peach smell (there is peach extract in it).

It’s a “liquid powder”, which means that it is liquid when you apply it, and then, it turns to a soft and silky powder after drying. This is much more practical than trying to sprinkle your feet with powder, which will leave powder everywhere!

Even though the name of the product is “bare foot”, I mainly use it when wearing socks and shoes, because the liquid powder leaves traces everywhere, which is not very aesthetical in sandals. Even with socks, you have to be very careful to roll those up in a manner where they won’t come in contact with the product, or you’ll have white marks everywhere. This is the only unpleasant thing about this product.

But it is really at the end of your day that you’ll fully appreciate of Freeman’s BARE FOOT: even after a day of outdoor activities, your feet will fell fresh and won’t smell! It is so nice that you’ll probably adopt it for your daily office life too, as I did.

Ingredients: Water, SD Alcohol 40, Tapioca Flour, Cyclomethicone, Fragrance, Peppermint Oil, Peach Extract, Balm Mint Extract, Propylene Glycol, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Vitamin E Menthol, Acrylates/C 10-3- Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Triethanolamine, FD&C Red No. 40, FD&C Yellow No. 5.

== Body Shop’s FOOT SPRAY ==

Body Shop offers different products for the feet: the usual peppermint foot lotion (no more and no less interesting than any other peppermint lotion in my opinion), a foot scrub (I haven’t tried it) and this FOOT SPRAY that I find fabulous.

This liquid has a greenish-blue color and smells rosemary and mint and you apply it by spraying your feet. The effect is instant and will last for about half an hour: your feet will feel cool, relieved, refreshed.

Contrary to Freeman’s liquid powder, this one leaves no traces behind, so it is very practical for the sandal-season. When going for a long ride outside, I often bring a small bottle of the FOOT SPRAY with me, so that I can spray it on a few times during the day.

Just be careful that there are essential oils in its composition (tea tree and rosemary oil), and that the usual indications for essential oils apply when you use it: if you are pregnant or if you suffer a medical condition, you should consult a specialist before using it.

Ingredients: Alcohol Deant, Awua Rosmarinus officinalis, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Isopropyl Myristate, Melaleuca alternifolia, Menthol, Calendula officinalis, Arnica Montana, , C1 42090.

If you're curious about the "melaleuca alternifolia" ingredient, go read this excellent review of Body Shop's Tea Tree oil by elzora: http://www.epinions.com/content_23414083204

Thanks for reading and enjoy your summer!
