Memory comes in all shapes,sizes. to really know what type of memry you really need, depeands on three thing. 1. The type of mainboard that you have. Some of the older main board only have 72 pins sims, while the new main boards have 128 pins dimm's The Dreffents between the Simm's and the Dimm's it that the simm's ( single inline memory) runs at 70ns where the Dimms (dual inline memory)runs at the 8ns. I'll take the dimm over the simm any day of the week. ok back to number 2 2.The amount of ram that is needed, There are many deferent size like 2meg, 4meg, 8meg, 16meg, 32meg, 64meg, 128meg, 256meg, and 512meg. and last but not least 3.How much Ram do i need. that is a Great Question, How much is enough. Well one why to find how much you need is to know what type of jobs you will been doing with you computer, and what program you will be running. take email you dont need 512meg for that. 64megs would be more them enough. No if you are running a server with many progams that you are running then 64meg is not enough then you need 512meg or higher. These Day if you have 256 Meg you have to much, do to the fact that Windows cant handle that amount of ram. And from time to time it will cause the computer to lockup. so a great number to have in you computer is 128 megs that will suit the end user. That is Memory in a Nut shell  |
