| Freak369's Full Review: Glade 3-in-1 Candles - All Fragrances |
When it comes to candles, I consider myself a true addict. Be it the small votives that burn for an hour or the large pillar candles that are so monstrous that they require three wicks. Then you have all the scents and blends; from a subtle patchouli to a strong musk, light and fragrant wild cherry to an almost overpowering ocean mist. Yes, candles are a weakness of mine and when I saw the Glade 3 In 1 I could hardly contain myself I needed to get all the scents and try them out as soon as possible! Initially I figured that these would be just like all the other Glade candle products a nice strong scent, even burning, no spitting from the wick .. the usual. What I didnt count on was that the tri-scented candle would really have a scent that no other candle could ever come close to. How so? Well, you get three different but similar fragrances with each candle but when you start burning them, over time the scents start to overlap and mix together. Simply put, this means that you get more than three aromas as the candle burns however these are just as intoxicating when not lit but left in an area of the house where these is a nice breeze or a lot of air flow.
Glade 3 In 1 Scented Candles
If you are the type of person that gets bored with one scent or likes a lot of variety then these candles are something that you have to check out. With three individual scents per candles and five themes to choose from; theres bound to be one that you will fall in love with but thats just the beginning. The layers are stacked on top of each other so when you are burning from one scent to another you get about twenty minutes of a blend of the two. Of course this almost means that when the sides of the candle heat up [after about two hours of constant use] the walls start to let off their own scent the best and most intoxicating being when the candle has burned almost the whole way through and all three layers are exposed. Depending on which candle you are burning your house will smell like a bakery [Baking With Grandma] or a garden in bloom [Starlit Garden] or even the beach [Day At The Seashore].
Glade claims that you can get up to sixty give hours of burn time from these but that all depends on how long you burn them for at a time and if the candle is in the path of a breeze or strong air flow. If this is the case then you will get about fifty five hours from each candle; still a lot of burn time for the suggested retail price of $4.99 in my opinion. You can find these almost everywhere but I have the best luck getting them at Wal-Mart when they stock the section. Here they sell for $4.49 which is a great deal for the scent you get. If you are looking to pick these up at the grocery store look to pay anywhere from fifty cents to a dollar more. Target gets these in from time to time but unless you live near one of the larger stores you may not be able to find all the different fragrances in this series.
The 3 In 1 Series
These unique candles are available in five different themes with each of them having three scents layered in each candle. With five themes to choose from, theres abound to be at least one that you fall in love with ..
Baking With Grandma
Vanilla Cookie Cream, Baked Pear, Cinnamon Treat
A very nice assortment of scents that blend perfectly with each other. The vanilla cookie cream smells a lot like French vanilla ice cream and when it hit the baked pear youd swear you were smelling fresh pie and ice cream. The bottom layer wasnt as strong as I thought and smells a lot like simmering potpourri.
Berry Picking
Fresh Strawberry, Wild Raspberry, Midnight Berry
Im usually not one to get into berry scented candles but I had to try this one out in the bathroom. All three of the berries are aromatic and linger for a while but arent so strong and sweet that it over powers you when you enter the room. This is perfect for getting rid of those bathroom odors as well.
Evening at Home
Clean Linen, Scented Bath Salts, Warm Hearth
This is one of my favorites because of the clean and subtle scent that it lets off; nothing strong or offensive about the clean linen scent pr scented bath salts and the warm hearth [bottom layer] is nice an woodsy without smelling like a fireplace or burning wood. Great for setting a nice romantic tone or just relaxing with a good book.
Starlit Garden
Moonflower, Lemon Lilly, Jade Orchid
This isnt one of my favorites because Im just not in to flowers but if this is something that you like then by all means, give this one a try. The moon flower and jade orchid are nice but the lemon lilly in the middle seems to over power both of them. If they made this without the lemon additive Im sure it would be something Id get into but until that happens, Im skipping this one.
Day At The Seashore
Ocean Breeze, Marine Mist, Sand Blossom
This seems to be the one that is the hardest to find. I have only had the chance to smell this at a friends house when she was making holiday cookies and wanted to get rid of the gingerbread smell. Try as I might, these are no where to be found in my area. All three layers are light and fluffy and it honestly does smell like you are a stones throw from the beach. Great for in the kichen to get rid of lingering scents or to cover up spicy cooking.
The Bottom Line
So far I have had no problem with these candles they burn evenly providing that you keep the wick on track, they dont spit or crackle and the sides stay relatively cool until it burns to the last half inch. Outside of not being able to find the Day At The Seashore one locally, these are easy to track down at most retail stores that sell room fresheners or candles and can be found online at a plethora of sites. Some people may balk at the $4.99 price but you are getting your moneys worth from them. I like the fact that it is pillar shaped and theres no glass jar to have to deal with disposing of, the scents for the most part are pleasant and appealing and you do get a lot of life out of them while they are burning. If you are a candle junkie these are definitely worth checking out!
As always, thanks for the read!
