| w5blt's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo R300 InkJet Printer |
I purchased the Epson R300 10 weeks ago after reviewing every photo printer on the market priced between $100 to $500. I settled on the Epson for not only price but exceptional quality.
As of now, I have printed probably 15+ photographs from 4" x 6" to 8 1/2" x 11". I'm still on my original ink cartridges! The quality is unsurpassed by anything that I've seen. Epson uses "archival ink". This means that the pictures you print won't fade for 60+ years! The trick is that for high quality pictures, you MUST use the Epson paper and ink. At first, I thought that I could probably use any paper. The other papers that I used just didn't have the quality that the Epson paper had. So, I exclusively use the recommended Epson paper and ink.
Talk about quality ... well, you'd be hard pressed to find any commercial printer that puts out a better picture. The print menu is very easy to use. Just select the paper size, the paper type and the quality that you'd prefer and start printing! It's just that easy. And, if you don't have a PC, just insert your media card directly into the printer and you're off and running.
Although you could use this printer to print normal documents, I wouldn't recommend it. Remember, you're using a special archival ink and you'll be paying a little more. I use another printer (HP) for my other printing tasks.
I haven't made a better purchase in years and I expect this "very quiet" operating machine to be around my house for many years to come. If you buy this printer, you'll hit a "Home Run" for sure!
