I have bought two Kingston 512-megabyte 333 MHz (PC2700) CL2.5 DDR memory modules when I was building my computer almost a year ago. I have been running them in dual-channel configuration at CL2.0 ever since and have had no problems whatsoever.
Pricing
Each memory module cost me $81, which is pretty cheap for good quality 512 MB module. Let alone the one that will run stably in dual-channel configuration (some manufacturers sell expensive matched modules to run in dual-channel mode) at CL2.0 vs. CL2.5 it was designed for.
Packaging
The module comes in a pretty standard plastic transparent packaging. It is easy to open and contains, along with the module, short manual and warranty information.
Warranty
The module comes with full lifetime warranty.
Installation
The installation was easy the modules required some force to insert into the motherboard slots, but it is no worse than the other modules effort required. The supplied "manual" provides useful information for first-timers.
Make sure you ground yourself before handling memory modules (static electricity may damage them)! Also, make sure your computer is off and the power cord disconnected or the switch on the rear of your computer is off (even if your computer is off, there still may be some current on the motherboard).
Performance
The modules run as PC2700 (333 MHz) on my Biostar M7NCD-Pro motherboard (nVidia nForce2 Ultra chipset) at CL2.0 in dual-channel configuration (1 GB of RAM total).
I am running the AMD Athlon XP2500+ (Barton) processor 1,833 MHz overclocked to XP2800+ (2,083 MHz) with this memory. The performance is pretty good and the system is stable.
I am not making the claim that you will be able to do the same, as it is not an officially-approved spec. But I tested the memory configuration by compressing a large set of files (600 Mb) with winRar and testing the archive successfully as well as doing video encoding for prolonged periods of time.
Before running both modules, I tried one module in its "standard" configuration with CL2.5 and without dual-channel mode. Single module with CL2.5 also worked well.
Bottom Line
The Kingston 512MB PC2700 DDR 333 MHz CL2.5 are high-quality modules, which are inexpensive and I highly recommend them.
