Swamp Thing. Lose yourself in the swamp...
by platonism | Sep 15 '04
Pros: Very good graphics; creepy music and visual/sound effects; appealing levels; tough challenge.
Cons: The uneven play control takes practice; some excessively difficult jumps late in the game.

Yes, I read about the title song... As a fan of cult cartoons (and given my interest in the character), I might buy this DVD...

Cartoon (Reply to this comment)

I recall watching the pilot as a kid and fairly enjoying it, but the other episodes didn't make it over here.
It's obviously been made a lot less serious and dark than the comics, and the Un-Men out to pollute the world made it seem like a slightly less dorky-captain planet.
You should also be aware of the theme tune, which is the Troggs Wild Thing, with lyrics changed pretty comically.
I do still have some of the toys from it, which were above average for the time though.

Thanks for the heads up about the DVD, I'll have to look out for it on import.

Animated series (Reply to this comment)

You're right: the game was released right at the time the cartoons were aired (I just added an allusion to it in my review). A 5-episode DVD was released on August 31... are you familiar with the series? I'd love to see what they did with the character and his world.

Thank you for the precision...

This was actually based on the early 90s cartoon, hence the appearance of the Un-Men, I have the GB version, and have been looking for this game for a while.

Excellent review by the way.
