| titaniumtommy's Full Review: Prismiq MediaPlayer (505-0277) |
I have yet to get my Prismiq media player working. I installed the software, turned off my firewall software, and jumped through all of the hoops the Prismiq tech support tried, but it has never worked. My Prismiq has never been able to see my PC and freezes whenever my PC runs the Prismiq software.
The on screen mouse is almost impossible to use as well and sometimes jumps around. It's a horrible experience trying to move the tiny little mouse around the screen. Very hard on the eyes.
So I tried to use thier music service to listen to streaming media from the Internet...no go. You need the PC to be on and have the Prismiq media software working. So I tried to browse the web. Ah, finally something that works! Well, sort of. The text is unreadable since the Prismiq uses a very thin light font on the TV's low resolution screen. Everything looks really blurry and is impossible to read without getting a headache and a trip to the eye doctor. I called Prismiq and they said there was no way to change the font size or the video quality...that's just great.
Don't get me started on the configuration screens. They are also hard to use and very unfriendly. Luckily I'm pretty well versed in network configuration so it wasn't so bad for me. Some of the menus run off the bottom of the screen and it not scrollable so I can't get to the bottom of some of the screens. It's very clear that the guys that made this thing just took a flavor of Linux, slapped on a pretty home screen and didn't do too much else.
