I was initially *very* excited about the idea of having groceries delivered. I mean, what could be better? I detest grocery shopping. However, I have had nothing but miserable experiences using Albertson's delivery service and have since stopped using it. They have been on time, but other than that, the service has been very disappointing:
(a) Promotions are poorly organized; redeeming the $10 coupon I received in the mail for my first order required three phone calls and two faxes.
(b) My second order had eight errors which took three phone calls (with lengthy hold times) and another delivery to straighten out.
(c) The list-management feature is so poorly designed that it is actually easier and less time-consuming to create a new list from scratch each time. What's the point of ordering groceries via computer if you can't do it efficiently? (I work on human-computer interfaces, so I feel quite qualified to comment on this...).
(d) It was very obvious that the several reps I spoke to in customer service hardly cared about their jobs, and that they are not empowered to fix problems. In fact, they even refused to credit me $2.50 of the delivery fee for the order that had eight errors.
My verdict: 'not ready for prime time.' Maybe I'll try again in six months.
