After poor experiences ordering a Canon PowerShot Pro 1 from two other merchants, I decided to try BuyDig. Even though their price was higher than some, it was still over 20% below MSRP. I had also purchased from them a few years ago and had a good experience.
The first thing I notice in going to their site is that instead of just the product names, they have listed specifications for almost everything. While I usually already know what I'm buying, this is always nice to have. Kudos to BuyDig for that.
In addition, they clearly show availability (how long it should take to ship) the warranty information (new, refurbished, US warranty, etc) and the manufacturer part number. The part number is a great double-check to make sure you have the right item.
They also have accessories and camera kits at good prices, not highly inflated like some vendors (who advertise an very low price on a camera, then gouge you on accessories.) While I already had the accessories I needed this time, the camera kit I got from them a few years back was good quality, exactly as advertised, and a good buy.
Their shipping cost was very reasonable. I've noticed others complaining about their shipping costs, but their overnight price of about $30 was less than the ground price of about $40 I'd seen for quite a few vendors.
I placed my order online on a Monday afternoon. I immediately got a confirmation email, giving my order number and confirmation of the details (items, price, shipping and billing address.) They note that you should allow 24 to 48 hours for processing of your order. On their site they also mention that shipping to an alternate address (i.e. not the billing address for your credit card) can delay your order by up to 72 hours. I was shipping to work, not home, so I hunkered down and waited, hoping for the best.
The next morning I received an email confirming that my order had shipped (not even 24 hours had elapsed!) The email contained a link to Fed Ex tracking for the product, as well as the tracking number and phone number for Fed Ex. I gleefully clicked on the link to see that indeed, the order was completed and awaiting pickup by Fed Ex. Nice!
While I waited for the order to arrive, I went back to BuyDig's site to see what sort of order information and support they have online. I was happy to see that once I provided my email address and the password I had created when I ordered, that I could see every order I had, laid out on a summary page, with the order's status. Clicking on the order number takes you to a page with the details for that particular order.
My camera arrived the very next morning. Everything was there, in good order. I charged up the camera battery and started taking pictures less than 48 hours after ordering.
I've had a very good experience both times I have ordered from BuyDig. They just seem to "get it", providing all the tools you need to place an order, and great follow through once you have done it. I am extremely impressed, and will certainly use them again.
