Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Naked........

The Bottom Line I am so lucky to have the WOT friends I have made here.... They are more loyal than my real life ones.....

Sorry about the title, I really needed the attention right now...........

What Is The Web Of Trust ?

For the last two weeks I have had plenty of time to think about what the WOT actually is and how important it is to me. My account suddenly disappeared and it was if I never existed. I have spent so much of my life at this site for the last year and a half, I felt as if I had lost my best friend, my reason for living and my will to sign on to the internet. This might sound a little drastic to some, but to me the Epinions site right now is the only reason I want to get out of bed in the mornings.

Well, maybe that is a little extreme but since I haven't been able to go back to work yet and everyone is gone during the day, and there is only so much housework one can do. When I first noticed my WOT list was fading fast, a fellow epinions writer was kind enough to let me know I was no longer on their WOT anymore. I went to all my WOT readers and tried to add them back, still nothing. I spent the last two weeks writing over 50 + e-mails to epinions trying to find out what was wrong.

Had I done something wrong, I was beginning to wonder, was it a epinions bug (they are going around, you know) or was my account just a dream and I really never was a member here. So many things go through your head and you consume all your energy just trying to sort things out. Every review I had ever rated, no longer had my Epinions ID on it and every comment I had ever left was gone.

What upset me the most was knowing that a person I trusted might noticed that my name was gone from their WOT list and drop me like a hot potato. Every one was very trusting and a lot of them even e-mailed me to let me know I was no longer on their WOT list. I have always taken the Web Of Trust very seriously and now I know what it means to others also.

What Is The Web Of Trust?

I think I know the answer to this question now. The WOT is a circle, group, or maybe just one individual who has faith in you and rely on you for the truth. They believe in you and what you have to say and some may even depend on you at times. At Epinions their faith is expressed through what they write, read, and rate. You, in turn trust what they are telling you to be the truth and help you in making a buying decision, or advice on personal matters, health issues or the best programs on television.

Believe in the Web Of Trust and I just witnessed for myself how powerful it can be. My WOT friends helped me with e-mails to Epinions and would not have done so if they didn't trust me. Thanks to all of you, I now have a life again and no longer have to go to bed at dusk.
