Great Vacuum - Love it! Release Clip not Offered for Sale as a Replacement Part!! (Reply to this comment)
by chicagorealtor
I am trying to locate the thumb clip that you slide back to release the Cyclone Assembly from the main housing on my Series DC 07 vacuum cleaner. I have been told by the Dyson office here in Chicago that I have to buy a new vacuum cleaner for $399.99.

I am very pleased with the vacuum itself. It does a great job but to have to buy a brand new machine (I have found on Dyson/UK that the Cyclone Assembly is available for L40 pounds) is rather silly when the part is probably only $5.00 to replace!

Has anyone else experienced this issue and, if so, were you able to find this particular replacement part?!

It's working and functioning perfectly. To date (3-8-07) I've had no major complaints or problems with it, nor have my relatives that also own it.

dyson okay (Reply to this comment)

The dyson is by far the most powerful vacuum I've ever owned, however, I've had bad luck with mine breaking down. The motor went on it when I had only had it 2 months. The hose cracked at a year old. I have to say that Dyson took care of it right away. You bring it to a UPS store, they pack it and ship it for you. No charge. I had it back in a week. My third defect happened 2 weeks after the 2 yr warranty, so I was out of luck. The flip piece on the cup broke right off. I called them, and asked to purchase his piece, as I was out of warranty, and they said the entire cup had to be replaced. It would cost me 65 and shipping. This bothered me, because their machines are not cheap to begin with, and I shouldn't have had 3 issues with the vacuum in 2 yrs. As I said, the suction is great, much better than any other machine, but I don't know if all of their machines are put together poorly, or if I was just unlucky, and got a lemon.
