I received this phone with a call plan at no additional charge over two years ago. It is a great phone and coincidently, the Army has adopted it in some cases as an off-the-shelf cell phone.
Since it is one of the most popular phones, you can get extra batteries, chargers and about a zillion different faces for it---all relatively cheap. I have a silver face and leather holder that I got for 50 pence each at a discount store in England. At a flea market in Germany, I got a hands-free mic and earpiece for about $7. I downloaded SMS Manager and with a $20 serial data cable I can type SMSs on my computer and send them off pretty quickly.
The battery lasts for days on a good charge and I'm a big fan of this phone. Some people like the games and ring jingles, but the choice of tones is fairly limited on this model.
I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for a reliable phone.
After about two years of use, the LCD screen started to fade out. If the phone is tapped on the top (top to botton) it usually snaps back. This is a pain in the neck, but it's like its own special security feature. :)
The only thing I don't care for so much is that it is fairly small--not as small as some of the micro phones out there--but too little for large hands to easily maneuver through the menus and keys.
