AT&T Wireless will take you for an entire month of service charges on your final month of service when you cancel your account unless you cancel it on the last day of the contract period. After speaking with multiple service reps and getting the same response I feel the need to warn everyone here who is considering using them. We ported our number over to a different carrier on the last day of our annual agreement (which ended on a Saturday). However, because the number porting was not completed on the last day of the contract AT&T Wireless is charging us for a full month of service when the account was only open for a few days during the monthly billing period. After I had 1 of their reps tell me that the monthly service charge was prorated (when it clearly was not prorated on our final bill) I had the subsequent rep tell me that they will not adjust the balance on our account to prorate the monthly service charge because the account wasnt closed precisely on the last day of the contract. Of course, if I had ported the number to the new carrier even 1 day earlier (a Friday) they would have charged us an early termination fee of $200. This is clearly AT&T Wireless way of stealing an extra $30 out of our pocket on the way out the door. And I wont even go into the huge problem we had with them last year that hijacked us into an extra year service agreement that Id never had agreed to if they hadnt charged us $400+ when they terminated our annual contract 2 months before the contract reached its termination date and wouldnt refund us unless we agreed to another annual contract. NEVER AGAIN with AT&T!! Consider yourselves warned.
