Considering the amount of money I was planning to spend on a plasma TV, I did a lot of heavy research before deciding to buy from anyone on-line.
I ordered a 50 inch plasma TV and wall mount bracket from DVD City in June 2004. I called to ask some technical questions and they were helpful.
I ordered through their on-line store. The cost was about $600 cheaper than the local electronic stores. There was no tax, but since I had to pay shipping, it is still cheaper than paying local sales tax. In the end, it cost me about $750 cheaper than from local stores. There were other on-line stores I saw with a cheaper price by another $100-$200, but mostly terrible remarks and horror stories about them. Obviously I stuck with this company that was getting good reviews from various users on other sites.
They were very good with automated follow-up emails and sent tracking information. The unit was delivered by a company that specializes in shipping large delicate equipment. The TV came with a "Tilt Indicator" on the box that would display whether or not the unit had been improperly handled during delivery. It had not.
We've had the TV set up now for 2 months and it is terrific. See my other review on the TV.
