| jbhut's Full Review: Viewsonic VPW420 42-inch Plasma Display |
As you gracefully walk into the living quarters from the porch, bestowed for your beautiful eyes is a replica of the Mona Lisa. It is encased with a wonderful molded gild frame that brings out the best features of the painting. Then she chuckles, "It's not really a painting!" She presses a button from the other end of the room and the painting scrolls up into the wall cavity. A whole portion of her wall had been rigged from some visual engineers to roll up into the wall and display her brand new 42" TV. All I can say is that I was amazed. She went on to explain the process as I stand their stupefied at this magnificent flat-plasma screen. She pulls up the coach and we begin to watch some videos.
After that had taken place, I could do nothing but desire to have one of these for my own. I casually asked her the price and my hair stood on end, but what a television. For $10,000.00 you can buy a lot, but hey after a few months I came up with the dough and now I am sitting watching sports, news, movies, and even working on my computer. If you ever get a t.v. up in this price range this is it.
It has a 42" flat panel screen, which is virtually seeable from all angles in "all the colors of the rainbow." Because of the new technology of this plasma screen you will receive the top quality in color, the box says it contrast ratio is 550:1 ratio, I am not quite sure what that means, but it is very good compared to my old television. Its viewing angle is 160 degrees. Its resolution is 852 x 480, VGA, SVGA, and many other types. This monster comes ready for 525i, 525p, 625i, 625p and 1080i HDTV video formats, yes that is HDTV, a really cool way of watching t.v., you could say.
As like my friends it was recessed into the wall, which must mean that this thing is very thin. Its actually depth is 3.5". You can put it anywhere with that depth, behind a painting :), a screen, on the ceiling, anywhere and you really don’t need to recess it since it is only 3.5" thick, unless you feel like it.
It comes with a decent remote control and great sound speakers, not the best but they will suffice, (8-watts x2) in stereo sound. You can also hook this up to your computer. This is really cool, because you can hook it up to your computer in another room and hit on, this will turn on your computer via your computer, this is possible due to the RS232 interface. You can do anything with computers these days.
This is ViewSonics first flat panel plasma screen that was first exposed in New York. This ready HDTV, computer ready, computer automated, and remote controlled flat panel screen is the best that I have ever had and probably will since the whole it burned in my wallet. I highly recommend it, it is new so if it experiences problems they will gladly help you out and send you a new one if problems arise due to the warranty, a great company and a great product. I hope you love yours and will have fun finding a place to put it, whether behind a Mona Lisa or some other painting or on the ceiling, you will enjoy hours of excitement and use.
