Pros: Unbelievable sound. Somewhat small enclosures. Very little hiss.
Cons: Requires stands. Must have an Equalizer. Unusual shape can be hard to fit into decor.
The Bottom Line: Use that proposed tax cut refund and go find the best deal possible!

| vince_nel's Full Review: Bose Lifestyle 901 System |
I purchased my 901's when I was in the service and single. Back in 1986, I paid a little over $800 for the set with its active equalizer. I have never been sorry since. I purchased them with the philosophy that I would never need to upgrade to a better speaker since they are the best! I have had so many compliments on their sound quality, even from a relative who majored in music in college and now plays with a professional symphony orchestra, he said after listening to several Telarc labels, "this is what I want my dream system to sound like." That compliment speaks volumes in it self. This type of system is a "reflecting system so it doesn't follow the same rules as your normal floor speaker system. These speakers fill the room with 16 reflecting speakers, while 2 direct firing speakers aim toward the listener. Professor Bose was truly a genius when he came up with this very unconventional design. Prices now are much more than they were back in 1986, but they have also improved them even more, if that were possible. If you have means to buy this speaker system and really enjoy your music, you won't be disappointed!
