The 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee is an excellent SUV in many aspects. Although it maybe showing its age here and there, it's still a very capable player in today's SUV market. And with a new 2005 model on the way, the 2004's are loaded with factory rebates and specials that make it an outstanding buy!
I recently purchased a 2004 Grand Cherokee Limited. I was going back and fourth as to whether or not get a new vehicle. I kept seeing all the4 ads on TV and in the newspaper about Jeep's end-of-the-year model clearance sale. So I figured I'd stop by a dealer and find out whether these deals are really true. Well they were true and I got an amazing deal on my Limited. The dealers took $10,000 off the MSRP right away, and then give me more rebates for various other reasons. In the end I walked out of the Jeep dealer paying slightly more a month then I was for my 2000 Mercury Mountaineer. The dealership was excellent, no hassle, and I didn't have to pay for anything in addition to the DMV fees when I picked up my new Jeep.
Now about the car...
The Limited models come packed with standard luxury features and you can order a few options. My Jeep came with the optional rain sensitive wipers, and Tire pressure monitoring system. It also has the 10-disc CD changer and up-graded sound system along with a sunroof.
The Exterior of the Vehicle is very classic and smart looking. It has great lines with nice touches to detail here and there. I especially like the chrome bar down below the license plate. That shows that Jeep put some thought into redesigning the 2004s, and added nice touches here and there. The headlights are very bright and excellent at night. The high beams super and throw off a lot of light for those dark roads. The doors open and close with a nice, solid thud, the truck as a whole feels very well built. Inside the cabin is extremely luxurious, with overly soft leather seating and nice rich wood trim. The controls are very easy to operate, and the climate control system seems to do a fine job at keep the cabin comfortable no matter what the temperature is outside. I especially like how fast the Jeep warms up on those cold mornings, in less then 5 minutes the heat is already coming on. The new style gauges are very classy and easy to read. They look good during the day and glow a nice soft green at night. The backseat maybe a little cramped for some tall adults, but for short trips, and or children it is fine. Being 6ֵ I wanted to have a SUV that had able legroom in the front. The Jeep is very roomy up front and I never have a problem getting comfortable. The 10-way power, memory seats are very nice, and offer you the ideal seating position. (Once you finally find it) The stereo is extremely clear and provides good sound quality at all volumes. The 10-disc CD changer is a nice feature, and seems to operate fairly quickly.
The vehicle drives like a dream. It absorbs most of the roads irregularities and provides and very quite and pleasure ride. There is some slight back and forth motion over dips and such, but nothing that is ever an inconvenience or really that noticeable. The standard 4.7L V8 delivers amazingly smooth power through the 5-speed automatic transmission. The engine responses quickly to throttle changes, and is so smooth that you'll hardly notice it's even running. Off the line the Jeep really moves. The V8 pulls strong and hard through its entire RPM band. On the highway at cruising speeds the engine still has plenty of power on reserve for passing and merging and even enough to push you back into your seat.
All and all I'm very impressed with Jeep Grand Cherokee. It provides a nice blend between rugged capability and being able to take it into Manhattan for a night on the town. The Limited is very luxurious and classy, and the V8 is a blast to drive and provides velvet-smooth power delivery.
Check out the 2004 models while they are still on the dealer lots, there are some amazing deals to be had.
