10. Eric B. & Rakim - Paid In Full - An early album of hip-hop, Rakim who is undoubtebly the greatest MC of all time shows it with the dope beats provided by his partner eric b.
9. Digital Underground - Sex Packets - Overlooked in my opinion, digital underground is a funky music based group who can rap with the best. featuring the rap-dance hit "The Humpty Dance" and the underground classic "Freaks Of The Industry" this album is an essential.
8. Dr. Dre - Tha Chronic - The album that dissed the E-A-Z-Y-E And introduced Snoop Doggy Dogg to rap is the greatest G-funk album of all time and features the greatest rap song of the 90s("ain't nothin but a g thang"). this is dre's best solo effort.
7. EPMD - Strictly Business - This album is a hip hop classic admired by millions. epmd mixed there boasting lyrics and nicely sampled beats to produce an excellent album.
6. De La Soul - 3 Feet High And Rising - De La Soul's Bright new face of music is what established hip hop in the 80s and set the standard for artists of even today. a must have.
5. Beastie Boys - Liscense To Ill - The first ever white made rap album Liscens To Ill is still a standard for sampling rap music of today. hit after hit come at you on this album.
4. 2 Live Crew - As Nasty As They Want To Be - The First album to be banned in The USA, the 2 Live Crew were rhymin sex junkies without a cause, this album is full of great music but it is quite hardcore with the sexually explicit lyrics.
3. Run DMC - Raising Hell - One of the greatest selling rap albums ever made was the influential genre breaking "Raising Hell" the 3rd album from Run DMC. it was musically and artistically brilliant and the 3rd best on my list.
2. N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton - The first ever gangsta rap album came from the N*ggaz With Attitude. they were made up of drug dealers gangsters and street thugz- and they were great. Musically hitting you with funky and catchy beats from Dr Dre to the harsh reality of street life in lyrics delivered by MC Ren Ice Cube and There Leader- Eazy E. This is my personal fave of all tiem a MUST HAVE for any collection.
1. Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back - The greatest album of all time came from the ground breaking group Public Enemy. It opened eyes all around the world with hard hitting facts told through rhyme by the great MC Chuck D. This album is the best of the best and an essential to any music collection.
