Pros: Light-weight, digital, still uses tapes, and the camera.
Cons: I don't know... maybe someday I'll find one.
The Bottom Line: This digital camcorder uses the latest technology. It's perfect if you want something to preserve those memories, do it without tapes, and not pay a fortune.

| keeper151's Full Review: Sony Handycam DCR-TRV320 Digital-8 Digital Camcord... |
When picking this camcorder out, we were looking for digital quality, reasonable price, and a still camera. The DCR-TRV320 is what we found.
Sony's has come up with Digital 8 camcorders. It's perfect for someone who wants the digital quality but still wants to use tapes. And the digital still camera is an added bonus. Because it's digital, you can not only edit your videos but with the still camera you can take a picture when you are watching the video. No more need to have a camera *and* a camcorder at all those family functions. Simply watch the video later and snap those moments as they happen. I love this feature.
We also own a Sony laptop which came with lots of Sony software for home movies. Which gives this camcorder more features than ever imagined. Especially being able to use the I-link cable.
This camera is light-weight and the LCD screen swivels so you could record yourself and still see the screen... I'm not sure why you'd want to but the fact is you could :D
There are several different fade options as well. One is of a bouncing screen which always fascinates home viewers. You can record in many cool digital effects too, you'll have to play with those. Some can be a little hokie but still fun.
This isn't a camera that a pro would use but it's great quality and a good price for those of us that are amateurs.
You will want to buy another battery if you want more than an hour of use but I wouldn't recommend buying an extra data card. If you fill it with pictures you can always unload it and resume use. There's no need to take the pictures as you go along, just wait until after everything's over.
