Pros: better graphics, wireless adapter, new islands
Cons: easy game, costs too much for its quality, low replay value
The Bottom Line: This game has been improved over Red and Blue. However, its very unchallenging, a waste of money and other games are much better. Note: (Fire Emblem, Zelda, Mario)
eliwood's Full Review: Pokemon FireRed for Game Boy Advance
Pokemon FireRed is an improvement over the old Red and Blue versions. It has new islands, the wireless adapter, and more pokemon. However, this game is too easy and has low replay value. See, all you have to do in this game is to pick a strong party, teach them some good moves and you will win. I mean, its so unlikely to lose a single battle! There is little strategy involved and your opponents are much weaker than you. Some gym leaders are much weaker than they were before. Beating the game isn't very hard and after the starting adrenaline rush, this game gets BORING. After you played say 50 hrs, wow! For example: I battled the Elite Four for the 25th time! This is so fun! NOT! Sure, you can battle your friends but it becomes boring as well. CATCHING ALL THE POKEMON IS POINTLESS, as it just wastes your time and energy. If your pokemon faints, wow! it can be REVIVED. This makes the game so easy! Some games such as Fire Emblem have the RPG elements but they are much more challenging and use your brain. For ex Fire Emblem battles are on a battlefield where you are heavily outnumbered and once a unit on your army is gone, they are gone FOREVER, THEY DONT GET REVIVED! This actually forces you to USE YOUR BRAIN! Finally, can you play pokemon for over 100 hrs NO!(unless you have too much time on your hands or are a crazy pokemon fan)But Mario,Fire Emblem, or Zelda, A Link to the Past actually use skill or strategy. Therefore, this game is a waste of your time, energy, and money unless you are obsessed with pokemon
