The Bottom Line sorry it's in the wrong category...just wanted to let out my opinion!

Note to reader: This is specifically aimed for the elder generations. This has VERY little to do with magazines, but teenage gift ideas was full….just wanted to give my opinion!

Being a teenager, I have received various gifts from elders that are…well…horrifying to be quite honest. It’s not that the person went to the store with the intention of buying me the first hideous thing that popped up, I’m sure they were just clueless as to what a girl of my age was into.

First of all…let me begin by telling you my worst, scariest gift ever opened on Christmas morning.

A rabbit head

A rabbit head with spray painted gold magnolia leaves behind its head, glass eyeballs, and freakishly realistic…also had gold stick poking out. I’m guessing it was a plant decoration, but am very lucky that my grandparents weren’t present. A look of disbelief came across my face… one of those, “is this a joke!?” looks. Very frightening when expecting something good! Anyways, that made the trashcan with in an hour, and seldom like to think of the frightening thing. What made them buy that anyways?

All right, so what do us teenagers like? Well I’m in the 16-20 age group, so I guess you might call us “young adults” if we were lucky enough. Either way, here is a list of no-nos.

1) No, I mean absolutely NO rabbit heads whatsoever. Don’t even think about it!

2) Ornaments… I know, may be useful later on in life, but we really don’t care at this stage. (Specifically aimed for Christmas holiday)

3) Stationary. I love getting new stationary, but to be honest, that’s something I have to pick out for myself. I don’t want pictures of paintings on cards I send to my buds.

4) Clothes are huge no-no. There is a large style gap between teens and anyone over…30. Clothes are a very personal item for a girl, and majority of the time teen will disapprove your taste.

5) Jewelry can be a touchy area, but if done right can be excellent gift. I wouldn’t call it a no-no, but don’t pick out anything you would wear to a Friday brunch. Ask store assistant.

Okay, well I think I covered the basics. So what DO you get us?

1) Money is ALWAYS acceptable. Don’t feel it’s too impersonal. It’s always the best gift to give…cause we can buy what we really want.

2) Anything they have asked for…take the hints guys!!!
3) Magazine subscriptions such as People, US, or any other interesting celebrity magazine.

4) Phone card (especially great for people that have just moved, or gone away to school)

Okay, so you see that we don’t like extremely hard to find things. We enjoy the simple stuff. Stuff that is safe to ask for, stuff that won’t get us stuck with any rabbit heads or things of that nature.

Good luck shopping. If you have any questions or would like advice for a particular person, feel free to email me or leave a comment.
