This receiver is adequate. It is easy to use and has some nice features. There are two problems with it: The skin tones seem to vacillate and above all, the customer service from Dish is so bad it is unbelievable.
I used Dish for four years and decided to upgrade my receiver to this one. The VCR blaster feature is very convenient. This allows you to simply select a program and the receiver will instruct the VCR to turn on and record. This was the selling point for me.
I ordered the unit and it took over 3 weeks for delivery. I discovered that the skin tones on my HD TV screen would vacillate from greenish to reddish. But the worst insult was the customer service.
Another feature with this receiver is the ability to view and interact with your account. I learned that they charged me for five receivers instead of only one. It took me eight telephone calls over six weeks to convince them that I only have one receiver. Each time, a different representative would give me a different song and dance as to why and how they would resolve the issue.
Finally, they also charged me with ordering a program that I did not order. I called one last time and had to argue again with them over this error. At this point I was so exasperated, I canceled the service and will sell this receiver.
Do yourself a big favor and do not use Dish Network. The aggravation is not worth the money you might save over other alternatives for your TV.
