Everyone should backup your personal files and even your entire harddrive. Use a dependable device and that's the best insurance policy to have.

You misunderstood me. I said novice home users don't use tape drive but businesses do.

You really seemed to put a lot of thought and time into this review. I agree all the way to the end, I have been in computer service business for almost 8 years. As far a your reference to novice home users are the only ones who use tape back up. I don't know a company that doesn't use a tape back up drive to backup their servers or IBM MidRange computer drives. I would much rather backup files to a tape drive which has a matching capacity to my drive then have to worry about multiple cd's or zip disks. If you are talking about copying individual files I would agree with using a zip disk. Great review very complete and extremely informative. I thought I would mention about the tape backup being used by many more people than just novice home users.
