Recently I organized a Lady’s Retreat for the ladies of my church and in doing so I wanted to buy some small things for they’re goodie bags. We had ordered some small tote bags for them but I wanted to do more for them. It so happened that these totes were ordered from a wonderful store that also offers online shopping as well as catalog and this is where I went to get the goodies for the ladies.
I also ordered some pink ribbons with crosses indicating that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each lady in our church got one of these to wear all month long. We also had gotten them some pamphlets from one of our local hospitals to encourage them to do a self breast examine each month as well as teach their daughters, husbands and sons to do the same. And I got them a whole bunch of other stuff from this wonderful online store!
(The reason I mentioned the above about Breast Cancer is because I was impressed that this online store was promoting the significance of Breast Cancer Research. It is a very important thing to do each month ladies. So teach the entire family how to do it for men can and young men can get breast cancer also.)
The Online Store
www.orientialtradingcompany.com is a wonderful online store that offers all kinds of gadgets for anyone! They have party supplies, costumes, crafts, small toys and games and stationary. You will find links to each of these across the top of the page and each link will take you to a different page. On each page you will find various items for sale. You will find the price and how many in quantity you can buy. Most are by the dozen. This is a great way to buy things from them especially if you are giving these items away to large groups.
You can order pencils with names on them as well as the stationary. You can also buy seasonal gifts such as Christmas, Halloween, Easter and others. You can also order notepads, pens, and containers of all decorations, sizes and colors! You can choose from so many different things.
You can also choose from Everyday gifts, Themes and Sale items. Now, the sale items are really neat because here you can save 50% or more! Each page gives you the item name and price. You can click on each item to get a larger picture view and then choose to add to your shopping bag. Also, on each page you will find just underneath the item you are looking at some other suggestions for you, similar to the current item you are looking at.
You will also find across the top of the page your “shopping bag”, which you can check anytime. And over on the left hand side of the page you can log in to your account and on the homepage you will always find the current sale items. Right now it’s Halloween!
If you click on “Themes” you will be taken to a page that offers various party themes. Such as: Retro/60’s, Luau, Camp Out and others. Each link will take you to yet another page with all items available.
There are many choices and you will just have to look around at all of them. In fact, window-shopping is highly recommended by me! There are really some great ideas for gifts for the children in the family (if there are a lot of them) and for gifts for the children and adults in your church or school.
Other Stuff
You will also find on the left hand side of each page a list of items that are offered. You can click on each link to find out more about each item.
They also offer a search engine, which is very helpful if you are looking for a specific item. When I shopped for the Retreat the theme was Safari. Of course I looked in the “Theme” section and found all sorts of wonderful little things for the ladies. When I went to the “animal” theme page right there on the front were safari items. I bought the pencils, the bookmarks, a refrigerator magnet craft and some other things.
My total order with 2-day s/h was 91.00. Now, I could have gotten a much less s/h fee but I needed the items in just a few days to make the trip on time. They do offer free s/h on orders over 60.00. This is standard shipping. However, this offer will expire on 10-18-04. But www.orientaltradingcompany.com will offer free s/h periodically. So, check often.
Current s/h chargers run from 6.95 up to 16.95 depending on what you order. This is for standard shipping. For 3-5 days runs from 13.95 up to 27.95 and for 2-3 days it will cost you 18.95 up to 32.95. These are business days. You can find out more information about the s/h charges in the “help” section.
You will also find links at the bottom of each page that will take you back to the homepage, contact, help, company information and others.
You can also track you order with no problems. At least I didn’t have any problems. I received an email letting me know of my order and then when the order was shipped. I received my order right on time.
How I Feel
I have order from www.orientaltradingcompany.com a few times now and I have been satisfied each time. Each item that came in was packaged with care and none were destroyed during shipment. In fact, each package came with it’s own seal plus an additional seal by Oriental for extra protection during shipment. I was greatly pleased in the care that they took in shipping my items to me.
Most of the items I ordered, the lady’s would be able to give to their children or grandchildren. I also ordered beads and cords for each lady to make a necklace for all the little girls in our church. This was a way to let the little girls know that the big girls loved them and that we thought of them. And of course each little girl loved her necklace.
Over all I have found some great buys at www.orientaltradingcompany.com and have been happy with each and every single one of them.
