Good location near Rijksmuseum

Written: Oct 20 '04
Pros:Good price for value. Very Clean. Good location.
Cons:Too far to walk to get to Centraal Station
The Bottom Line: Close to the Rijksmuseum, tram lines, canal tours, holland casino and Van Gogh Museum

When British Air had a work stoppage in July 2003, I was placed in this hotel overnight. I've since visited Amsterdam twice and have stayed at this hotel on both occasions. The hotel is very clean. It has 24 hour room service and a bar open in the evening. Breakfast cost 16 euros and is buffet style and very good. The hotel has a washer and dryer in the basement and a nice fitness center.
The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the Rijksmuseum and about a 5 minute walk to the tram(trolley)line. A boat tour of the canals can be caught across from the Museum. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the Holland Casino and Hard Rock Cafe. It is also right around the corner from The Van Gogh Museum.
Taxi rides to The Red Light District run about 14 euros. This hotel has a two block "mini" red light district across the street and to the north. My dates there July 9,10,11 and October 16,17,18. Summer room 331, fall room 235. Both rooms had views of the canal. Ask for them. The hotel also has a shuttle to the airport. I don't know if they pick up there also. The shuttle was 15 euros, (Oct 2004). Overall, the price was very reasonable.
