e-rewards: Spend a Little Time, Get a Little Something
Oct 24, 2004
My husband first introduced me to e-rewards about a year ago, knowing my love of online surveys. Since he knows I am fond of absolutely anyone who wants my opinion on anything, he thought I wouldn't mind answering a few more surveys.
::: About e-rewards :::
e-rewards is a marketing research company. Unlike some of the others like Vividence and Lightspeed Panel, however, e-rewards has short surveys that accumulate "money" that you can spend with their list of partners. In order to become a member of e-rewards, you need to request an invitation and fill out a profile. The more of their "profiles" you complete, the more surveys you will receive.
::: Being an e-rewards Member :::
Once you are an e-rewards member, your dollar total begins to accumulate very quickly. Every time you receive an email from e-rewards, you receive money in your account, as well as for clicking a link, and then additional rewards for completing surveys.
Rewards are pro-rated based on how long surveys are (some are up to $3.00 or $4.00), and some rewards are given even if you screen out of a survey based on your demographics.
Once you have accumulated $25.00 in your e-rewards account, you can redeem them for one of the rewards. A common complaint is that the list of partners is rather narrow for some people, but I view it like the old Wheel of Fortune game; whether it's ideal or not, you are still getting something just for giving your opinion (hey, kind of like here) with little work. I've rarely had a survey from e-rewards that took me longer than ten minutes to complete, unlike other online survey companies.
Many of the rewards are discounts for various companies (Omaha Steaks, eBags, etc.), bonus miles for airline programs, magazine subscriptions, or free rentals at Blockbuster.
::: My Experience with e-rewards :::
Of the three online survey companies I am a member of, e-rewards has the easiest surveys to complete. Almost all of the questions involve no more than a click of the mouse, with very little text to enter.
Customer service on the site is excellent. I redeemed my account balance recently for some free Blockbuster rentals. The free rentals are given as one a month for six months, which doesn't bother me since I don't often have time to rent movies. However, even with following the redemption instructions, I was unable to get my recalcitrant printer to print the coupons correctly. By the time I got frustrated enough to contact their Customer Service, two had expired. Customer Service not only sent me the coupons, but also added two more months onto my six months, restoring the coupons that had already expired!
::: Overall :::
If you are like me and love taking surveys and offering your opinion to anyone who will hold still enough to listen (yes, I even do the phone surveys when they call), and view getting something back for offering that opinion as only a bonus, then e-rewards provides short surveys that don't take up much time. They may not offer things like Amazon gift certificates or cash payouts, but the rewards rack up fairly quickly, and don't require much effort to earn.
