Windows is an attractive product that is widely used and pre-installed into almost every pc bought nowadays. But why should you use something just because everybody else is? It is slow, RAM hungry, takes up way too much space on your hard drive, and in buying it you are supporting the manufacture of other substandard Microsoft products. Microsoft themselves use Linux and other Unix based operating systems to run their servers, why because they know the inherent reliability problems and general uselessness of Windows for anything more than the most basic of home computers would be a problem in such an application. So to conclude, if you want your computer to look pretty, and to conform to what most other computers use, then install and use Windows, but if you want to actually utilise your computer's power in any real way, do yourself a favour and avoid it at all costs.
