It is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find the clean lines perfect, but the treatment of the nose could use a bit of tweaking (Although I think the nostrils on the 2005 are not the answer). That is the most I can find wrong with the car.
The interior is fantastic, the seats are some of the best I have ever sat in for long drives, yet hold you firmly. The fit and finish of the interior is by far the best I have seen in a GM product. Yes, the Caddys have more bells and whistles and wood trim. But you don't buy a car like this for wood trim accents.
Suspension is tight, and yet on the highway is smooth as silk. Reminds me of a 8 series BMW, but with a better overall ride. With a fully independant rear end with posi-traction grip and handling are well communicated to the wheels.
While the suspension may feel German, the sweet sound and powerband is all American V8. The horsepower is right there. Extremely torquey and well managed. The traction control system is very well behaved, and needed.
The stereo, and controls on the steering wheel are awesome and well thought out.
It could use some more modern features, and the lack of the door lock switch is annoying. The A/C system could use better controls. But considering everything you get with the GTO, there is nothing comparable.
Cars I considered:
The 2005 Mustang, may have the power but not the fit and finish.
The base 3 series coupe BMWs don't have the overall power or feel the GTO has. The M3 BMW has the feel, but not as torquey and costs a lot more.
The Honda Accord Coupe, has the second best interior. But doesn't have the power or feel and is FWD.
The Lincoln LS, while nice and has a comparable fit and finish, it too much a sedan and no where near as comfortable. Not to mention its a 4 door sedan.
