The Bottom Line These movies are the best, in my opinion. You may like others, but, well, you're not writing this, are you?

This is not an easy topic to review. Picking ten movies is a hard task. There are so many good ones that it's hard to narrow down. However, here's my attempt to put together a list that is comprehensive, yet unique:

Number Ten: The Emperor's New Groove. Yeah, it's an odd choice for a top ten list, but this Disney cartoon was instantly one of my favorites. David Spade and John Goodman are hilarious as Kuzko and Pacha, and the comedic timing of Patrick Warburton as Cronk is unforgettable.

Number Nine: Psycho. The original, not the trashfest with Anne Heche and Vince Vaughn. Alfred Hitchcock's best movie should be on every top ten list, but Anthony Perkins' chilling performance as Norman Bates is all too often forgotten.

Number Eight: Cast Away. One of Tom Hanks' best, but not his best. We'll get to that. Hanks is the only actor that can not speak for thirty minutes and tell us everything we need to know.

Number Seven: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Benicio Del Toro gained fifty pounds to play Dr. Gonzo in this brilliant romp through Johnny Depp's drug filled world. The comedy and satire of this movie are perfectly intertwined as we get a clear view into the drug culture of the time.

Number Six: Saving Private Ryan. Best war movie ever, bar none. Any movie that actually keeps war veterans from watching it is a perfectly made movie, and how can you put Hanks and Spielberg together and not get a great?

Number Five: Rain Man. Dustin Hoffman was brilliant and Tom Cruise put together the best performance of his career.

Number Four: American Psycho. An incredible satire and a look into the mind of one crazy, crazy man.

Number Three: Star Wars. Enough said.

Number Two: American Beauty. The movie that has meant the most to me in my life. Wonderful comedy, drama, satire, and all out mayhem.

And finally,

Number One: American History X. By far. Not as well known as it should be. To me, Edward Norton is the best actor alive. No one else can be the killer in 'Primal Fear' and turn around to play the reformed neo-Nazi Derek Vinyard. No other movie even comes close.
