Thanks so much! I appreciate your comment and adding the sentence about kids. Ours are grown so I can lose touch a bit! jo

Actually, each temple built is open to the public briefly. There is an open house with tours and information on the purpose of the temple and the ceremonies performed there. After the open house, the temple is dedicated to the Lord, and after it is open only to worthy members.

Just for fun, here is a list of temples, with temples under construction or recently announced at the bottom - maybe there is one near you! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_temples_of_The_Church_of_Jesus_Christ_of_Latter-day_Saints

Also, here are some pictures of the inside of the Salt Lake City Temple: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Parthenon/4909/saltlake.html

I registered on epinions especially to tell you that, as a Mormon, I loved your review on Temple Square, and appreciated your handling of a religion not your own. :)

I visited Temple Square with my family several times as a child, and always loved it. It is gorgeous in the summer and amazing in the winter with the Christmas lights. I am taking my own kids there for the first time this month, and they are going to love it, too. Obviously it's going to mean more to them as Mormons, but I just wanted to add that kids won't necessarily be bored.

Hi Peggy,

No, my friend is a definite no Coke/Pepsi gal! And yep SAP away, I'm hoping to have my form up after the weekend.

Cheers

Peggy if you are still reading this I have to tell you something sort of funny. I'm a Reform Jew so anything goes. But for those who are Conservative and Orthodox well they pick and choose particularly those we call "Conservadox" as in - they can't work on Sat. but they can drive their did to soccer practice. Who knows, religion is irrational. jo

Well, I saw my Mormom girlfriend eating a Butterfinger yesterday, so who knows? LOL!

(she once gave me an explanation but I can't recall the reasoning behind which products are ok and which are not!)

Peggy no I didn't know about the coke, etc. I actually just thought it was coffee. I guess I never thought about the fact it is the caffeine. Guess that means no chocolate - YIKES! :) jo

did you know, Chris, according to my Mormom friends, that contrary to popular belief, Coke/Pepsi is okay. Just not HOT caffeine products! Maybe the Mormons here in California are a tad more liberal.

I once worked with a gal who was the black sheep in her Mormom family (she drank and married outside the church, oh heavens!)

But they're very good people and even the young fellows with their short sleeve shirts and ties who ride bikes around my neighborhood are extremely pleasant and never rude.

Take care (I'm going to have to do some traveling so I can turn in a few SAPs for you!)

out west we are more aware of the Church of LDS (i.e. Mormoms). I have several friends myself. I read that they actually permitted non-members to view their new temple in NYC for a short period of time this summer. I heard it was beautiful.

Oh well, missed my chance. This is a rarity.

Great review,

Peggy

Thanks, Chris and Congrats on the Lead. I agree - obviously- that passion about their faith is almost (the key word here almost) catchy:) jo

OK, I'll forgo the Hendrix quips for once!

I enjoyed your write up. Our typist is a Mormon, and I I have to say as an athiest, how much I am impressed with her faith and how consistently she applies it.

Interesting review

Chris
