| LILvoyce's Full Review: Dawn Liquid Dish Detergent |
My beloved Maytag finally washed her last load about two months ago. We have been washing them by hand ever since. If I have to wash them by hand, I really want a great dish washing liquid.
I expect a lot from a dishwashing liquid. I want one that will not irritate my hands. Secondly, I want one that will leave my dishes feeling clean, without any sort of greasy feel to them. I want a dishwashing liquid that will give me a nice amount of suds, while still being easy to rinse, and not taking to long to rinse off the suds.
I also expect that when I grab a glass, and go for some purified water, I can not taste a hint of my dishwashing liquid in the glass. I am not so concerned with the scent of a dishwashing liquid.
Did I find something that would fit my needs? Yes, I sure did! I ended up really liking the good old fashioned, Dawn Liquid Dish Detergent, in it the Original scent.
Grease
My daughter and I noticed that our hands did not feel greasy after using Dawn. We had tried a few other brands of dish liquid, and the results were so noticeable, that when I went to write this review, we both mentioned about the grease factor at the same time.
Everyone noticed how much better the glassware looks too. We have noticed less spotting, and our glassware never feels greasy, or contains streaks.
Taste
Now don't hold me to it, but it has been about six weeks since I have stopped smoking. I feel like I have been given new taste buds. We have tried other brands of dishwashing liquid, and I know that it sounds strange, but I could taste the soap residue from my glass, when ever I drank a glass of water from my water system's purifier. I do not experience this when I wash the dishes with Dawn. My husband thinks that my claims are outrageous, but he still smokes. My daughter agrees, and my son is to small to care. I notice this fact right away, so I will continue to purchase Dawn for this sole reason.
Scent
To me, Dawn is a comfort scent. My Grandmother had used this product for years. I really love the fresh, soapy scent. I am pleased that when I go for a pot or pan, you can NOT smell the scent of the Dawn. I am not a huge fan of scented dishwashing liquid, but I have not experienced any problems. My hands do smell like Dawn, after having done a load of dishes.
Suds
I love the sud factor. I have since noticed that the amount of suds really don't matter. I have used a product that did sud a bit more than the Dawn, but overall, the Dawn did a much better job of cleaning my dishes. I would have to give Dawn about an average sud rating. I love the amount of suds that Dawn gives me. I don't want so many suds, that when it comes time to rinse, I am there forever trying to rinse the suds off. Dawn gives just the right amount of sudding for my preference.
Cleaning Power
I think that this product cleans great. I have less streaking. I also notice that I do not have to keep changing the water, like I do with other brands. My dishwater stays clean longer, and it looks cleaner. Dawn hold up a lot longer than anything else I have used.
As far as cleaning any of my old fashioned heavy pots, I will normally rinse them, and add a drop of Dawn and a bit of water. I let the pot sit for about ten minutes, and return to wash, with minimal elbow power. Cleaning Non-stick cookware is a breeze! I love that when I rinse my non-stick cookware, they do not have any residue on them!
I like to take a small plastic tub and let my silverware soak in hot water and a bit of Dawn. Dawn virtually cleans the silverware itself. I am very pleased.
Price and Description of Product
I am able to find this product at my local dollar store for only a $1.00. I have found it in the 18 fl oz. frosted plastic bottle. The liquid is bright blue in color, and the bottle has a nifty flip top cap, rather than a pull up type. For me that means, I end up spilling less. I am more prone to flip the top back closed, than pull the spout back down.
I would like to see Dawn change it's bottle design. I feel they are past due on changing the look of the bottle. Dawn really needs a new make-over as far as bottle design.

Overall?
So far, Dawn Dishwashing Liquid in it's Original Scent, happens to by my favorite so far. I would recommend this product to anyone.
