This machine has done everything I've thrown at it.

Pros:Serges through layers that other machines couldn't handle.
Cons:Does not have a free arm.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this machine because it is a work horse and will get through layers that other machines can't handle.

I have had this machine for about 10 years. It was a wedding gift from my grandmother.

I started out making napkins with the rolled hem. I tried to use it for connecting blocks for quilting (not a good idea). I made lots of cloth diaper wipes and doublers. Then contour diapers and fitted diapers. Now lots and lots of clothing for my family and friends.

I love that this machine has been able to do things that other sewing friends machines couldn't manage. Multiple layers of soaker material that other machines would get caught up in this machine was able to take.

The threading guide is on the inside of the door and is easy to follow. The color coding is a bonus.

Switching to a rolled hem is the flip of a switch. The width of the cut is a dial, easy to change. Changing the blade is only a few screws. Changing the light bulb is doable without extra tools. Adjusting the tensions is a breeze.

The only down side that I can think of to this machine is that it doesn't have a free arm. I didn't even know that a free arm on a serger was an option until recently.

The actual name on the machine is "Bernette for Bernina Fun Lock 007D De Luxe"
