The Tungsten T3 is your better bet in Palm OS PDAs... that has Bluetooth functionality. The Tungsten E needs a USB connection to sync (I don't know about Bluetooth or WiFi add on SD cards and how well they work on the Tungsten E).

I think you're being hopeful about the Cobalt Palm OS (i.e. PalmOS 6) appearring in any Palm hardware anytime soon.
If one comes out this year, I would be very surprised considering statements made by higher ups in PalmOne.

need help selecting a PDA (Reply to this comment)
by rmathes
I'm writing this comment in the hope that either the reviewer or someone else knowledgeable about this stuff can offer me some help. I'm about to make the switch from a paper planner to a PDA. I use a Mac PowerBook with DayLite and that is my primary planning tool, but it syncs with Palm OS. I want to use a PDA for those times when I'm not with my computer. I've got an iPod so I don't need the PDA to be an entertainment device. I don't plan on using it for email or Office documents, either. I want it to be a planning tool, although I'm sure I'll start finding more uses for it as time goes by.
I need to be able to sync it with my PowerBook. I read the author's recommendation for the Tungsten E and it looks great except no bluetooth, so how does it connect to the laptop (USB?)
I don't need a ton of features, I need a nice screen, easy and intuitive controls and clean sync abilities with strong PDA/organizational capabilities. Can someone provide me a recommendation?
My email is rick@egoscue.com. I appreciate any assistance I receive.
And for the record, I find the author's reviews VERY helpful.

Nice Solid Review.... (Reply to this comment)
by honestlynow
I really liked the review. Covered everything a basic user needs to know.
A couple of things come to mind, outside the review. I did not want to do a complete review.
The T5 is very crash prone for a PDA and recovery from corrupted databases requires serious efforts on the part of the user (I have had to delete my user (and all programs) to find a failing program that causes a crash. Argh!!!
Bluetooth support is dismal for phones and equipment, and only a few phones are defined. Networking is fragmented under bluetooth (by design) and you must have specific drivers for the device profile which are limited in the T5.
No capbility is built in palm to stop failing appications from causing memory errors or to detect and disable failing software.
The Graffiti 2 consistently fails to recognize t for me (L space is displayed) and hard to recognize characters could have a mini key option to tap for just those characters (a T button especially). I'd like a customizable graffiti screen.
Also, Palm needs a new SDK developer language (Cobalt) that is SAFE for new applications (non device) taking advantage with the new speeds available. DocsToGo (basic version) is crippled and buggy enough for comment.
WiFI is definitely a miss in the T5 and handicaps the device greatly.
You also might consider a list of nice to haves for the palm, the cradle is a must, as well as a wireless keyboard and the WiFi Card. The WiFI card requires a driver update to work consistently. The palm T5 appears to be a stop gap in revenue for the cobalt versions (coming real soon). The T5 is not yet it. Thanks for the excellent review and the fine job in writing the review, as well as the chance to vent.
