NOTE: This is for Youth Groups only. What a wonderful program! If you are a youth leader of any kind, and you have 10 or more youth in your group that wants to make a trip to Walt Disney World, then boy are you in for a great treat! The Disney Youth Enrichment Program, also referred to as Y.E.S. is geared toward youth groups and making it affordable for them to come to WDW. Program offers classes that are field trips at Walt Disney World that lasts around 3 hours each. They teach with the hands on theory. After/or sometime during your stay, you take a class, then enjoy your time at WDW. Included in the program are as follows: One standard Disney Y.E.S. Program class 5-day Park hopper pass Disney Y.E.S. T-shirt choice of 1 day water or 1 day Disney Quest $169.00 per person The price of a regular 5-day hopper pass is $230 for anyone over 10 so the cost of the package is much less and includes the class, optional pass and T-shirt . There is a minimum of 10 minimum. The hopper pass expires 7 days after 1st use. Two chaperone packages are included for each group and for every 5 students one chaperone may purchase the package at the student price. Here is a list of the classes that are offered at this time. Animal Encounters Programs Bird Study This is for students from the 6th to 12th grade. The course is held at the Disney Wilderness Adventures Course at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground where the students study about Florida native species. Part of the course includes a boat ride around Bay Lake. 3 hours Kidventure This is for students from 2nd to 4th grades. The course is held at the Disney Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. The students study a variety of marsh ecology and learn animal identification, which includes making a plaster cast of animal tracks. 3 hours Ranch Encounter This is for students from Kindergarten thru 2nd grades. The course is held at Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. They have a day on the ranch where they have a hayride, pony ride, visit a barn and the petting zoo. 3 hours Reptiles & Amphibians This is for students from the 6th thru 12th Grades. This class is held at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds and it teaches the kids to interact and identify these creatures. They target the Florida species and exotic species. 3 hours World of Outdoors This is for students from Kindergarten thru 12th Grades. This course is held at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds where students learn how to observe and interpret animal behavior in the wild and gain basic outdoor skills. 3 hours Arts & Literature Programs The American Story This is for students from the 2nd thru 12th Grades. The course is held at the Magic Kingdom, specifically, Liberty Square and Frontierland. It helps students to explore the history of the United States; they explore the influences of traditional storytelling in shaping present-day views of America. 3 hours Disney's Animation Generation This is for students from the 3rd thru 7th Grades. The course is held at MGM Studios where the students learn how important storytelling in to the animation process. They get to create a storyboard as part of this class. 3 hours Animation Magic This is for students from the 8th thru 12th Grades. This class is held at the Disney Institute where the students get to try their hands at making their own animation. This course is one that takes team effort. 3 hours Magic Behind the Show This is for students from the 6th thru 12th Grades. It is held at Pleasure Island. This course allows them to participate in improvisational games, study a live performance, and come to know one another as members of a creative team. Using their new knowledge, they perform a unique improvisational production. 3 ˝ hours Disney's Production Arts and Sciences This is for students from the 3rd thru 12th Grades. The class is located at MGM Studios and teaches the techniques and technologies of storyboarding. The work with digital photography and learn the art of editing. 3 hours. Humanities & Life Management Programs Career Discovery This is for students from the 6th thru 12th Grades. This course is at the MGM Studios where the students discover the "real world" importance of management, training, and communication in navigating a career. 3 hours Florida Story This is for students from the 3rd thru 8th Grades. This course is located at the Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. It is Florida History 101 hands on style. Students meet characters and participate in activities from Florida's yesterdays while learning how early inhabitants survived and adapted to the state's challenging environment. 3 hours Disney's Leadership Excellence: This course is for students in the 11th and 12th grades. It is held at Epcot and is specifically for tomorrow’s business leaders. They learn how effective leadership produces innovation. They learn how to promote their own personal and professional success. 3 hours Career Discovery This is for students from the 6th thru 12th Grades. It is held at MGM Studios and it is geared to help students discover the "real world" importance of management, training, and communication in navigating a career path. 3 hours Millennium Cultures This is for students from the 5th thru 12th Grades. It is held at Epcot where the students travel through the different world and discover how cultural barriers and gateways have been created through technology, communication, and commerce. It teaches that even with our differences, we all still have some of the same basic needs. 3 hours Natural Science & Conservation Programs Backstage Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom This is for students from the 11th and 12th Grades. It is held at Animal Kingdom where the students get a look at the creative ways Disney's Animal Kingdom scientists and animal-care staff are handling issues such as animal care, nutrition, conservation, and behavioral studies. This class is only offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. 3 hours Environmental Science This is for students from the 6th thru 12th Grades. It is held at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds where the students become aware of currents environmental issues and examine sources of man made pollution. 3 hours -- Harvests and Habitats: The Land For students in the 3rd thru 12th Grades. This course is at Epcot where the students get to tour the Land greenhouse. They learn the history of agriculture and innovative growing techniques. 3 hours Island Explorers This is for students from the 5th thru 8th Grades. It is at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds where students take a real-life look at Florida wetlands ecosystem. Students become part of a team of junior scientists conducting aquatic experiments in the field, and use microscopes, journals, and field sketching to identify discoveries. 3 hours The Naturalist This is for students from the 1st thru 5th Grades. It is located at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. The students observe an insect zoo and take nature walk to learn about migratory birds and understand native plant and animal identification techniques. 3 hours Disney's Ocean Discoveries This is for students from the 4th thru 12th Grades. This course is located in Epcot at the Living Seas. The students see how everyday choices can devastate or preserve the delicate balance of marine environments. 3 hours Team Up for Wildlife This is for students from the 6th thru 12th Grades. The class is located in Animal Kingdom. They study animal research challenges, social structures, communication, behaviors, and nutrition. Students use the scientific method and problem-based learning to develop an action plan for a real-life conservation dilemma. 3 hours Tropical Connections This is for students in the 4th thru 8th Grades. The course takes place at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds. Students learn to make conservation connections between North American swamps and the world's declining tropical rain forests. 3 hours Disney's Wild by Nature This is for students from the 4th thru 10th Grades. The course is at Animal Kingdom and teaches students how discoveries about animal behavior are helping us preserve and manage critically endangered species and habitats. 3 hours Physical Science & Mathematics Programs Dynamics of Technology For students from the 6th thru 12th Grades. Class is conducted in Epcot at Innovations. Students discover how imagination, ingenuity, and science drive innovations that will fulfill the wants and needs of humankind, today and tomorrow. 3 hours Disney's World of Physics: Energy and Waves For students in the 3rd thru 12th Grades. This course is at Magic Kingdom and teaches students about physics, acoustics, and magnetism. 3hours Disney's World of Physics: Properties of Motion This is for students from 3rd thru 12th Grades. It is done at Magic Kingdom and teaches students about physics concept of mechanics at selected Magic Kingdom attractions. 3 hours Synergy in Science This is for students from the 2nd thru 8th Grades. It is studies at Epcot where the students study lasers, 3-D imaging, fiber optics, and flight simulators, students discover the "magic" behind entertainment technology and its application to daily life. 3 hours Another Youth Group Program is Disney’s Scout Spirit Days Programs. They give Boy and Girl Scout troops the opportunity to meet merit badge requirements at Walt Disney World. Plus, when troops take any one of the Disney Scout Spirit Days Programs, they can request the special Disney Scout Spirit Days participation patch instead of the Disney Y.E.S. T-shirt included in the regular Disney Y.E.S. program package. The programs offered for the Scout Spirit Days are Environmental Science The Naturalist Bird Studies Reptiles & Amphibians World of Outdoors Please note that these prices are only good till September 30, 2001. There is an expected price increase after that time. The updated prices for after that time are scheduled to be released in late summer at which time I will come back and update this review. So if you have a church youth group, scout group, school class party, or another kind of youth group, then you can be part of this program. There is no discount on rooms at the WDW Resorts, but it is not a requirement to stay onsite if you are part of this program. Remember though that the All-Star Resorts will hold a maximum of 4 people and a room rate averages $90 (depending on the season). Divide that with four and the cost can be reasonable.
