Pros: Comfortable suspension. Comfortable seats. Excellent sound system. Best navigation system in any vehicle.
Cons: Fit and finish horrible. Nagging problems. Engine power.
The Bottom Line: Not worth price. Had numerous fit and finish problems. I ended up selling the vehicle as I was so unhappy taking it back and forth to the Lexus dealer.

| markproducer's Full Review: 2004 Lexus LX 470 |
I purchased a 2004 Lexus LX-470 thinking it was my dream vehicle. You would think that a $60,000 car would have quality fit & finish. After just a few months of normal street driving the interior developed more squeaks and rattles than my sister's $15,000 car. Other problems:
--Glove compartment door was crooked and did not close properly. Lexus could not fix.
--Door plastic on drivers side just under window glass became discolored in the sun after just a few months. Went to one Lexus garage and they said it was a $60 part that can easily be replaced but my original garage had to do the warranty work. Original garage said it would require replacing entire interior of door and cost over a $1000.00 which they were not willing to do even though they did say there was a flaw in the leatherette fabric.
--Seatbelt mechanism that retracts seatbelt failed 3 times. Was replaced 3 times. On second and third failures the techs at Lexus lost the cover latch to the seatbelt unit and had to reorder each time.
--Several plastic knobs just fell off on the dashboard. Very cheap parts!
--Automatic stick shift became loose and had to be replaced
--Power window failure. Motor on driver side replaced
--Poor clear coat on paint. Mere days after owning the vehicle the clear coat was fogged from bird droppings. Easy washing with water removed the droppings but the clear coat looked like someone took sand paper to the paint.
470 Engine is reliable but causes vehicle to hesitate when speeding up or slowing down at stop. Feels very underpowered especially in torque for such a heavy vehicle. Mechanic at Lexus garage said it is a problem with this series of vehicle and one should always drive with overdrive OFF to get full power from engine.
I ended up selling this vehicle and would not purchase a Lexus again. Very unhappy that such an expensive vehicle had so many nagging problems.
Problems certainly add to the saying that Japanese build quality is not as good as European. Having said that my replacement vehicle is GMC and has far better fit and finish than my Lexus.
