Cons: Dashboard rattling, speaker rattling, no double-wishbone in front, stock all-season tires
The Bottom Line: If you live in a world with totally smooth roads, then this car is excellent. I live in construction-prone DC, so this is not the case for me.
I bought an '04 RSX a month ago, based on three test drives and my prior experience with Integras. With ~2,200 miles on it now, I have taken the engine to the limit and it does perform awfully well. Acceleration is excellent over 3000 RPM, and steering is nice and responsive. It's a bit more difficult turning the wheel when moving at slower speeds, but I do like the weightier feel when driving over 25 mph. Handling is still above average, although the switch from double-wishbone suspension in the front to the cheaper MacPherson struts is a definite downgrade from the earlier Integras.
The backseat's space rivals that of the old Integra, but they're still very comfortable for smaller adults. The trunk is spacious and much larger when the rear seats are folded down.
I have some MAJOR gripes with this car though. There are incessant rattles coming from the dash. Even the tiniest abrupt bumps in the road cause a rattle all along where the dash meets the windshield. Add to this the fact that the glove compartment does not meet flush with the dash when closed, and you have a lot of rattling going on with minor bumps in the road. It takes the dealer days to find rattles, even if you do point them out, so I'm going to insert some foam under the dash and add some padding to the glove box. Hopefully this will fix it, but the fact that the dealer won't provide me with a loaner car while they fix these is UNACCEPTABLE. Bad, bad Acura dealer. MORE rattles are coming from the left front tweeter and the right front main speaker, even with the smallest amount of bass. If I had known about the widespread rattling problems, I would have looked into a different car.
