I'm glad you were able to find a job so quickly... but here in Glendale/Los Angeles, that $300 a week isn't enough to pay rent and NO ONE is hiring. Anyone else reading this know of anyone hiring? pleasepleaseplease

After 17 years I was laid off by my job. The company merged for a 4th time, and while I was devastated to be laid off, I felt a great freedom.
It usually takes much longer to find a new job after being laid off than it took you, so other readers out there who have been laid off, give it time--it can even take a year, but there is something better out there.
Glad you found something better; I did, too.

I'd love to talk to a recruiter or two but I have no idea where to find one. Are they listed in the phone book under "Employment Pimps"? I used to have one or two calling me every week. Now that I need one, I can't find one. :)

Congrats on the new job! In '98 I went through the same experience (maybe I milked unemployment insurance a little longer... ok, a lot longer)... then I got hired by an Internet company. Last week we just completed another round of layoffs... but at least I survived (again).
If nothing else, it's been a wild ride.
