The Bottom Line My Minivan rides smoothly with high octane petroleum from Union 76, the official pit stop for NASCAR!
When you are driving along the streets stop and look for the Union label, 76 gas station that is. While getting pumped up ask for the little red ball to place on your antenna. Be sure to check out the 76 wear at the website, http://www.76gear.com/ for some cool summer hat. You can also utilize the official pit stop of NASCAR by going here, http://www.circlek.com/cgi-bin/b2cpt01/scripts/home.jsp?Site=ck. Union 76 is a name well known to travelers across the country with the turning ball 76 showing up along the highway. When I drove from New Jersey to Florida it was the 76 station that I stopped at for fuel. This is the best pit stop for those who are not professional drivers. The Union 76 is found as the proud sponsor for all circuits pertaining to racing. Twenty years ago I was a waitress at a country/western type club that was down the highway from a Truck Stop. After work we always went there for breakfast and fuel up on our way home in the wee hours of the morning. It felt safer hanging with the truckers too. In New Jersey we did not pump our own gas like I must do in California. I used to get my fuel at the Hess station and give the guys tips in the holiday season. It was quite a shock and adjustment I learned driving from New Jersey to California while seven months pregnant and had to pump my own gas. They need to have diagrams with step by step instructions for first time pumpers! I had just purchased my 1985 Plymouth Voyager from the original owner who was moving to Alaska. I left in April with rain in Pennsylvania and two days stuck in snow in Ohio. I found out while driving the streets of Chicago that I had an oil leak and was told I would not make it to California without getting fixed. So on the next highway stop I spotted a Wal-Mart and picked up a case of oil. I spent the drive cross country spitting black smoke out of my engine and smoke behind me. I had no problems with traffic since no one wanted to get close to my vehicle. While cruising the 75 and 85 mph stretch of highway I encountered a strange pull on my steering wheel in Sayre, Okalahoma. I then hopped out of the vehicle and signaled to the truckers that I needed help. A tow truck showed up and showed me the way to the exit with their station. A few hours later and a couple hundred bucks down on something with brakes I was off again. We made it into California and soon had to adjust to the city streets and stop and go traffic nightmare. I had lived in Los Angeles for nine years but relied on public transportation so this was new territory since I only knew bus routes. Then I needed a muffler and soon after that had a steering fluid leak. I kept a stock of fluid handy and just kept filling it up until I could afford to get the van fixed. I used to live near a Union 76 shop so got my gas there all the time. Then I moved and found a pop shop down the street that sold gas kind of cheap. I noticed the difference instantly in the way my car turned off when using the other gas. For the past few years I have used a Union 76 gas station for my fuel needs, or actually the Minivan’s fuel needs. Back in New Jersey before driving out to California I found gas in Philipsburg for 97 cents a gallon. Today I purchased gas at the Union 76 station 92 octane for $2.39 a gallon. They sell the unleaded regular for $2.09 and the next level at $2.29. Well since the gallon is over two bucks it makes sense to buy more of the higher octane. I always get $5.00 or more each time I stop in. This time they guy looked at me when I was getting past $12 and wanted to know if I was filling up. I stated since it was the beginning of the month I could afford twenty. Wow I got almost 8.5 gallons and the indicator rose over the ¾ mark full. This might last me a week if I am lucky. About two weeks ago I saw the prices going up and purchased the regular unleaded and could tell my vehicle was not running as well. When I turned it off the same thing as before would happen. We would be rocking and rolling and the car was not even turned on anymore. Sometimes the car would cough at me when I turned off the ignition. Well excuse me I could not afford the premium, but at least it is not the generic stuff at the pop shop! Many months ago my kids father stopped by and offered to fill my tank. Not one to pass up a free offer of petroleum I advised that my Minivan needed the high octane gas from 76 and gave directions. The next day I went out for some errands and the vehicle was not very well, coughing and shaking when I tried to turn it off. I made a telephone inquiry as to where the gas was purchased and sure enough the pop shop down the street made my vehicle cranky and sick. While I have not done too much in the way of maintaining my vehicle it is apparent to me when the wrong gas and type is pumped into the fuel tank. My kids are not too happy when we have to sit in the Minivan and wait for the vehicle to stop hacking! I have at times been hostile to my vehicle especially the time a few years ago when dropping off my kids father at his residence. The man irked me in how he responded to the kids and I placed my foot on the pedal and hit the medal so hard I blew the engine. There is now a rebuilt engine that has been there for two years now and probably the last time I had an oil change! I am driving on fairly new tires and notice whenever something is out of whack in my vehicle. As long as my Minivan continues to start each day and help us make it to our next appointment, I will reward it with Union 76 premium gasoline. Maybe they will offer me a credit card soon with a low interest rate. It is the official fuel of Nascar and being a long time fan of the racing sport I am supporting them. The website gives information on the racing fuel and where the stations are located. For more information call, 1-800-345-0076. This is my experience with using the premium gasoline over the last few years. I added some filler in here to share how my car handles long drives and city driving. As the saying goes, filler up, or look for the Union label, or is it go 76’ers!!! Sorry I was a fan of Philadelphia from the 70s and 80s. |
